Heat control filters are a special type of dichroic filter used to remove unwanted energy from the light emitted by a source. A common example is the use of hot mirrors in very bright spotlights used in entertainment applications. Heat control filters are able to separate the unwanted infrared, perceived as heat by people, from the visible light desired.

Hot Mirror filters transmit the shorter wavelengths and reflect the infrared energy. Hot mirrors are most commonly used at normal incidence, but custom angles of incidence can be designed to specification

Cold mirror filters reflect the shorter wavelengths and transmit heat (infrared). Cold mirrors are commonly used at 0 & 45 degrees.

HM-VS-950 Hot mirror
This filter was designed for cost sensitive applications. It has great transmission in the visible spectrum and blocks out a significant portion of the IR energy. The average transmission is specified to be more than 93% from 425 to 675 nm and average reflectance is more than 95% from 750 to 950 nm at normal incidence. Custom angles of incidence can be designed to specification.

HM-VS-1150 Hot mirror
This is our most popular Hot Mirror. It has great transmission in the visible spectrum and reflects the IR energy out past 1150nm. The average transmission is more than 93% from 425 to 675 nm, and the average reflectance is more than 95% from 750 to 1150 nm at normal incidence. Custom angles of incidence can be designed to specification.

HH-VIS-1600 Hot Mirror
This filter was designed for applications that require extended IR blocking. The filter reflects IR energy out past 1600nm and maintains good visible transmission. The average transmission is greater than 85% from 425 to 675 nm. Average reflectance is more than 90% from 750 to 1150 nm & 80% from 1150-1600 nm at normal incidence. Custom angles of incidence can be designed to specification.

CM-VS-STD- 45 degree Cold Mirror
This cold mirror filter is designed to operate at 45 degrees. It reflects the visible spectrum and transmits the heat (infrared). The average reflectance is greater than 95% from 425 to 650nm. Transmission is more than 85% average from 800 to 1200 nm. These filters are commonly coated for normal incidence applications as well. Custom angles of incidence can be designed to specification.
